Ok yeah, the Cubs offense sucked up until the ninth inning, but what an exciting win for the Cubs as they were able to come back and tie the game in the ninth, and then go on to win in the tenth inning. Good teams find ways to win, and that is exactly what the Cubs did against the Dodgers in their 2-1 victory on Wednesday night.
In the ninth inning you could tell that Dodgers closer Takashi Saito was having control issues right away as he walked Ryan Theriot to lead off the inning. It was Saito’s first action in a week and he clearly need some work in between starts. The Cubs were able to get the bases loaded and then Geovany Soto hit a sacrafice fly to right field to tie the game.
Onto the tenth inning when Mike Fontenot lhit double to the left center gap with one out in the inning. Alfonso Soriano then stepped up and delivered the game winning hit as he his a curve ball to left field that scored Fontenot from second. Way to step up like the player you really are Soriano.
Carlos Zambrano was a bit wild tonight as he did walk four batters but give him some credit for lasting eight innings and keeping the Cubs in the game. Jose Ascanio continues to impress be as he pitched another scoreless inning. Bob Howry pitched the tenth inning and ended up picking up the win for the Cubs.
The Cubs continue to play great baseball at Wrigley Field and hopefully they will continue doing it as the Colorado Rockies are coming into town for a four game series.

Wahoo, those last three innings of the game was pretty exciting as the Chicago Cubs scored three runs in the seventh inning and then held on to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1. The Cubs have now won two games in a row and improved their record to 31-21 on the season.
It sure was great watching Sean Gallagher pitch a good game. Gallagher pitched seven innings and only allowed four hits and one run. Great outing for Gallagher who has to stay in the rotation for atleast two more games in my opinion. Hell, let him stay in the rotation for good.
Carlos Marmol worked out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth inning without giving up a run, and then Kerry Wood shut down the Dodgers in the ninth to pick up his 12th save of the season. I still worry that the Cubs are using Marmol a little bit too much.
Mike Fontenot, Aramis Ramirez, and Kosuke Fukudome all had one rbi in the game. Had the Cubs got some bunts down that they messed up on, it probably would have been a 5-1 or 6-1 game in my opinion. Tomorrow, they are going to be getting some practice bunting the ball lol.
The Cubs and Dodgers will play again on Wednesday night as the Cubs go for the three game sweep. Carlos Zambrano will take the mound for the Cubs as he tries to improve his record to 8-1 on the season.
GO CUBS GO!

That was about one of the most frustrating games I have watched in a long time.  The Cubs lost to the Reds 5-3 as the Reds broke their five game losing streak and the Cubs continue to play bad baseball. Two errors really hurt the Cubs as the Reds scored four unearned runs in the game. Mark DeRosa and Mike Fontenot both extended innings where the Reds scored after they commited big errors.
The Cubs had their chance to atleast tie the game in the bottom of the ninth inning, but with the bases loaded for some reason Fontenot tried scoring from third base on a ball that got away from Paul Bako and was called out at home. Yeah, replays showed that Fontenot was safe, but he shouldn’t have even tried scoring on that play because his run really didn’t matter. Ryan Theriot walked right after that to load the bases for Derrek Lee but he failed to get a base hit as he grounded out to first to end the game.
Geovany Soto, Derosa, and Theriot all had a RBI each. Soto connected on a solo home run in the second inning as he continues to swing a good bat. Soto finished the game 3-3 with a walk.
Ryan Dempster took the loss for the Cubs. Dempster is now 4-1 on the season after losing the game tonight. Dempster allowed five runs to score but only one of those runs were earned. The two errors extended innings and Dempster wasn’t able to pick up his teammates.
Carlos Zambrano will take the mound tomorrow night for the Cubs as they will try to get back on track against the Reds. The Reds will send Aaron Harang to the mount so the Cubs will have their work cut out for them once again.

Ted Lilly threw seven innings and recorded his 1000th strikeout on Saturday as the Chicago Cubs defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 9-3. Lilly had his pitches working for him finally as he recorded his second win of the season and is now 2-4 on the season. Lilly also had his second career extra base hit with a double.
The Cubs only scored in two innings but they used a six spot in the fourth inning and then three more runs in the seventh inning to blow the game open. Mike Fontenot had a three run home run while Geovany Soto had a two run double in the fourth inning. Kosuke Fukudome had a pair of doubles among his three hits and drove in two runs as well.
The Cubs will try to win the series as the two teams play on ESPN Sunday night. It will be Jason Marquis vs former Cubs pitcher Todd Wellemeyer.
Also before the game Rich Hill was sent down to Triple-A Iowa and Sean Gallagher was called up.  Early reports are staying that Jon Leiber will take Hill’s spot in the rotation, and that Gallagher will be pitching out of the bullpen. Hill will stay in the minors until he regains his control and can last more then a couple innings in a game.

The Chicago Cubs were on the wrong side of a slugfest at Wrigley Field on Tuesday night as they lost to the rivals from the north 10-7. The loss was the fourth in the five games for the Cubs who have hit a slump after coming out of the gates strong.
The Cubs could never get going as the Brewers scored in six of nine innings against the Cubs pitching staff. Jason Marquis got the start on the mound and lasted five innings as he gave up ten hits and five runs. Kevin Hart gave up three runs, Sean Marshall and Jon Leiber also gave up a earned run out of the bullpen.
The Cubs batters faced a wild Ben Sheets who walked seven batters but the Cubs couldn’t string together three or four hits in a row to take advantage of all those walks and put up a big number on the scoreboard.
Mike Fontenot did double with the bases loaded to pick up three RBI but that was about the Cubs only big hit that scored more then one run at a time. Derrek Lee did connect for his eighth home run in the in the third inning and finished with that one RBI. Reed Johnson, Felix Pie, and Marquis all had one RBI as well.
It is time the Cubs get back to winning some games, and they really need to pick up the win tomorrow when they face the Brewers once again. You can’t keep dropping these divisional games and expect to win the division.
So will the Cubs get the win tomorrow? Leave us a comment and let us know!

The Chicago Cubs picked up another extra inning victory as they beat the Colorado Rockies 7-6 in 10 innings. Both teams blew ninth inning leads with their closers, but it was the Rockies who ended up losing their fourth straight game when leading after seven innings.
The Cubs took the lead in the ninth innnig when Aramis Ramirez hit a two run homer off of Manny Corpas that gave the Cubs a 6-5 lead. However, the Cubs couldn’t hold onto that lead as Kerry Wood blew the save in the bottom half of the inning Ryan Spilborghs tripled and scored Scott Podsednik.
In the tenth inning, Ryan Theriot singled in Mike Fontenot for the game winning run. Carlos Marmol pitched the bottom half of the inning to pick up his second save of the season. Wood picked up the win after blowing the save in the ninth inning.
It was the Cubs 10,000 win in their history which is a little milestone for the team. I sure don’t remember a lot of those wins lol!

The Chicago Cubs are 1-0 in Cactus League play as they defeated the San Francisco Giants 12-6. The Cubs got off to a fast start as they jumped out to a 8-0 lead after only three innings of play.
Ryan Theriot and Mike Fontenot both had good days hitting the ball.  Fontenot hit a pitchit three run homer and Theriot reached base three times and scored all three times. Felix Pie also had a pretty good game as he hit a home run and also took a walk in the game.
Kosuke Fukudome was hit by a pitch in his first at bat and then later singled and drew a walk to reach base all three times.
The Cubs face a split squad of Giants again on Friday, this time at Mesa’s HoHoKam Park. Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano will oppose Giants left-hander Jonathan Sanchez.

I’ll just catch to the chase today as I’m pretty pissed off with out the last inning of the Cubs and Diamondbacks game went. Why in the damn world do you have your two base runners attempting to steal third and second base with 0 outs? I don’t care if Jason Kendall makes any sort of contact, in most cases, if he makes contact the least that happens is you have Mike Fontenot at third base if Kendall grounds into a DP? Well what happens? Kendall strikes out and Fontenot is thrown at third ending pretty much all hopes of any sort of game tying run in the ninth.
Stupid move by the coaching staff if you ask me. Say Kendall strikes out, but you still have runners on second and first but Ryan Theriot and Jacque Jones are due up. Theriot makes good contact, and ended up walking, and Jones grounded out at first by a nice diving stop by Tony Clark, but what would have been had the damn runners not been trying to steal during the Kendall at bat? I guess we will never know…
As it stands know, the Cubs are 1.5 games up on the Brewers but only 2 games up on the damn Cardinals. I’m not scared of the Brewers at this point, it is the damn Cardinals that are playing red hot baseball that I’m scared of. The Cubs had better take two of three against the Brewers during their mid-week series or this season isn’t going to end up in the Cubs favor.
What do you all think? Leave a comment and let us know your thoughts on the 9th inning of todays game.

It was another late inning rally by the Chicago Cubs tonight against the SanFrancisco Giants. It was a 2-2 game from the 4th inning until the top of the 10th inning when the Cubs were finally able to push across the game winning runs to beat the Giants 4-2. They wouldn’t have had a chance though if it wasn’t for the great pitching perfomance by Rich Hill.
Hill pitched an outstanding game for the Cubs tonight. He only allowed two earned runs during his seven innings. Hill kept the Giant batters off balance all night long and really helped out the team by throwing seven innings. Hill also had 10 strikeouts and only allowed one walk on the night. Now that is good!
Aramis Ramirez got the Cubs offense started in the top of the 4th inning when he had a two RBI double tied the game 2-2. The game stayed tied until the top of the 10th inning when Cliff Floyd led off with a double, and then Felix Pie (who was pitch running) advanced to third on a passed by. Mike Fontenot then walked and Jason Kendall hit a sharp groundball to Rich Aurilia who bobbled the ball and let it get into the outfield which allowed Pie to score the go ahead and game winning run!
The Cubs were not done however as they still had Fontenot at third base and Kendall at first when Henry Blanco came to the plate with one out and succesfully laid down a suicide squeeze that score Fontenot from third base to give the Cubs a 4-2 lead.
Ryan Dempster then came into the game and closed it out with his 20th save of the season. With the victory tonight, the Cubs moved 1 game ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers who lose 2-3 against the Arizona Diamondbacks!
The Cubs are in first place, do you have tickets to watch the Cubs at Wrigley Field or on the road? If not, you are missing out and need to order some tickets through our Partners at Stubhub! Great tickets at great prices 100% guranteed!

After scoring only 5 runs in the entire series in Houston, the Cubs put up a 10 spot to beat Colorado 10-2 at Coors Field Thursday night. Jacque Jones had a big night with 4 hits and 4 RBIs. He drove in Ryan Theriot for the 1st run of the game in the opening inning. The Cubs got 3 in the 2nd thanks to a Garrett Atkins error scoring Jason Kendall. Jones followed up with another hit to make it 4-0. Matt Murton led off the 3rd with his 3rd homer of the season. The Cubs would add 4 more that inning. Mike Fontenot and Kendall had RBIs as well. Ted Lilly picked up his 13th win of the season going 6 innings giving up only 2 runs. The bullpen finished off the game as Kerry Wood, Carlos Marmol, and Bob Howry pitched scoreless frames. With 3 games still to be played in Denver, the Cubs send Jason Marquis to the mound against Aaron Cook Friday night.
