Harden helps Cubs avoid embarassing sweep

Rich Harden threw seven shutout innings and only allowed one hit as the Cubs avoided an embarrassing sweep from the San Diego Padres. The Cubs offense was led by Milton Bradley and Aramis Ramirez who both hit home runs in the 7-1 victory. Can they team build from this as they head to Los Angeles?

Dempster strikes out ten but Cubs fall 6-3

Ryan Dempster had hoped to get the Cubs back on the winning track and despite striking out ten Padres, the Cubs still lost 6-3. Derrek Lee did have two hits including his 24th home run of the season but it wasn’t enough offense as Aramis Ramirez, Milton Bradley and Ryan Theriot stunk it up at the plate.

Kevin Gregg you SUCK. Gregg once again gave up a walk off home run and blew the save and the game for the Cubs. This time it was a rookie taking the meatball fastball thrower deep for a game winning three run home run as the Padres beat the Cubs 4-1. Gregg, sit your butt on the bench where it belongs and don’t get up!

Cubs take two and are rained out on Sunday

Well the Cubs beat the Pirates on Friday and Saturday however mother nature had something to say as they attempted to go for the sweep on Sunday. The game was postponed until a later date and now the Cubs look forward to a huge series against the San Diego Padres. Can the Cubs catch the Cardinals or grab the wild card?
