Zambrano ejected but Cubs win 5-2

Big Carlos Zambrano went off on a big tirade after being ejected in the seventh inning but the Cubs still beat the Pirates 5-2 and took two out of three games in the series. Zambrano acted as if he ejected the umpire, threw a ball out into left field, and also smashed up the poor gatorade dispenser in the dugout with a bat!

Cubs beat Padres in rain shortened game

Ted Lilly pitched into the seventh inning and the Cubs beat the Padres 6-2 in a rain shortened game. Alfonso Soriano, Ryan Theriot and Geovany Soto provided the runs for the Cubs. Soriano and Theriot led off the game with back to back jacks and Soto would hit his first of the year later in the game. Theriot also added another solo shot as well.

Harden and the Cubs beat Peavy 6-2

Rich Harden beat Jake Peavy and the San Diego Padres 6-2 on Tuesday night. Milton Bradley provided a moonshot two run homer off Peavy and the Cubs added three runs off the Padres bullpen as they took the first game in a three game series in Chicago. Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome both had three hits as well.

Soriano’s two home runs lead the Cubs past the Astros

Thanks to a two home run night by Alfonso Soriano, the Chicago Cubs held off the Houston Astros and took the final game of a short two game series by the score of 8-5. The bullpen tried giving up the lead in the ninth, but Kevin Gregg came in and finally ended the Astros rally.
