| Sean has spent his entire three-year
minor league career with the Cubs, going 14-13 with a 2.64 ERA
in 44 starts ... was added to the Cubs' 40-man roster in November
2005 ... graduated from Manchester High School in Midlothian,
VA, in 2000 ... was selected in the sixth round of the 2003 June
draft out of Virginia Commonwealth University ... his twin brother,
Brian, was selected by the Red Sox in the 5th round of the 2003
draft.
2006 Highlights:
Marshall, who spent most of last season at Class A Daytona, made
the Opening Day roster, and was 2-0 with a 4.22 ERA in April.
The rookie picked up his first win April 14 against Pittsburgh,
his second start. Marshall was sidelined from late July to early
September because of a strained right oblique.
2005 Highlights:
Sean spent the majority of the season at Daytona (A), where he
went 4-4 with a 2.74 ERA in 12 starts ... also made four starts
for West Tenn (AA), going 0-1 with a 2.52 ERA ... won back-to-back
starts for Daytona April 27-May 2, as he allowed 3 runs over 12.0
innings and struck out 11 batters ... the left-hander held opponents
to a .246 average in the Florida State League ... allowed more
than 2 earned runs in just four of his starts and was unscored
upon in five outings ... lasted 6.0 or more innings in three of
his four starts for West Tenn (AA) - and worked a season-high
8.0 innings on July 9 against Carolina ... threw his second career
complete game, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits over 7.0 innings on June
4 against Brevard County ... was named the sixth-best prospect
in the Cubs' organization by Baseball America following the season.
