The cubbies begin a 3 game west coast trip tonight playing the Los Angeles Dodgers. The pitching matchups for the games look to be:

Monday: Greg Maddux vs Brett Tomko
Tuesday: Carlos Zambrano vs Derek Lowe
Wednesday: Sean Marshall vs Brad Penny

Looks like we will be facing two very good pitches on Tuesday and Wendesday. Hopefully Maddog will be able to get the Cubs the win tonight and start the series off to a good start.

Angel Pagan strained his left hamstring Saturday night running to first base and underwent an MRI on Sunday in Chicago. Pagan will be out atleast 2 weeks, but could be much longer depending on how his hamstring responds to therapy. With Pagan heading to the disabled list, the Cubs called up David Aardsma who will be another fresh arm to the bullpen to join Roberto Novoa who was called up when Michael Wuertz was sent to Triple A Iowa on Saturday.

Right-hander Michael Wuertz, who had a 6.75 ERA after three appearances, was optioned to Triple A Iowa on Saturday. Wuertz, wasn’t having that great of command and hopefully a week or two in the minors will refresh his mind and arm. Novoa will bring a rested arm to the bullpen which will help out Eyre and Howry who have been throwing a couple of innings every other game.

Well I thought the Cubs had a good chance of sweeping the Pirates but ran into a pretty good pitcher in Zach Duke during game 2 of the series. Cubs could only muster 1 run and lost the 2nd game of the series. Yesterday the offense came around and the Cubs won 7-3.
