Milton Bradley the newest Chicago Cub

Submitted by Cliff on Monday, 5 January 2009 One Comment

Well it looks official now, Milton Bradley is the newest Chicago Cubs. Jim Hendry feels that he found his left handed right fielder it appears as Bradley and the Cubs have agreed on a three-year contract that will be worth $30 million dollars. I found it pretty interesting that their possible is a clause in the contract that if Bradley gets hurt, the Cubs will not owe him the full contract if the injury is severe. Sounds like a good deal to have in place as Bradley always seems to get hurt.

Bradley who switch-hits, hit .321 with 22 homers for the Texas Rangers last year while leading the American League with a .436 on-base percentage. I like the fact that he gets on base quite often as that is something the Cubs could really use.

I think it is a gamble any way you look at it. The Cubs are hoping that Bradley will have an injury free year but if he plays between 100-110 games I would say they would be happy with that. The $10 million per year is another thing that I’m unsure of.

What’s your opinion on the deal Bradley deal? Good or bad move by Jim Hendry?
