Les Walrond to make first major league start

Submitted by Cliff on Monday, 28 August 2006 No Comment

Who? What? Where? Lol who in the world is Les Walrond?  That is what Cubs fans are probably thinking when they noticed he is scheduled to start tonight.  It will be his major league debut.

Walrond, 10-5 with a 3.98 ERA at Iowa, will be the Cubs’ eighth rookie starter this season. The Cubs chose him instead of Sean Marshall, who threw six shutout innings in his last rehab start.

I would have preferred seeing Sean Marshall come back up and make the start but what do I know?  Might as well call up the entire Triple A team before the seasons over.
