Free swinging Cubs shutout 3-0
Eh, what a terrible offensive performance tonight by the Cubs. As I sat here watching the game and reading other Cubs blogs, I had to think to myself, “How many more ground balls are we going to see?” Well things never changed in the game as Joel Pineiro and the Cardinals shut out the free swinging Cubs 3-0 in a game that lasted just over two hours.
Poor Ted Lilly who pitched a great ballgame but received zero run support because the offense chose to swing at either the first or second pitch just about every time they were up to bat. Lilly gave up a two run home run to Colby Rasmus and allowed a rbi single by Yadier Molina in the game but overall he pitched a hell of a game. Lilly gave up just four hits in seven innings but was out matched by Pineiro.
As a team the Cubs had just three hits. Alfonso Soriano led the game off with a hit but was then picked off first base Molina so that hit really didn’t do much. Derrek Lee and Mike Fontenot had a hit each in the game as well but the rest of the team was terrible at the plate. Patience guys! Three hits, zero walks, and five strike outs will not get the job done on the road in St. Louis that’s for sure.
The Cubs will play another night game tomorrow night and they will have to go against Chris Carpenter. Ryan Dempster will get the start for the Cubs. I would expect to see a much more patient team at the plate tomorrow. Or at least I would hope so.

I agree, it was a terrible performance by the offense tonight. Pineiro was not throwing the ball hard at all. Patience at the plate sure would have helped.
The Cubs should be competitive enough to keep pace with the others teams. I really like the Cubs . They’ve always been one of my favourite MLB teams to watch. I pass most time watching and looking for their news and videos. Last time I saw some hot videos of them here:
They really deserve our love so we must not stop supporting them .Go Go Cubs
