Cubs hope to have a better second half

It sure was a rough first half for the Cubs and no doubt just as rough of a first half for their fans. A 39-50 record has the team down in the standings behind the Cincinnati Reds and 9.5 games out of first place. Is 9.5 games to much to overcome for this 2010 Cubs team? The way the team hit the ball in the first half it sure is going to be an uphill battle for this team.

The Chicago Cubs are Laughable Losers

So I really did try to think of something positive to say in this blog update but I could not find one positive thing that is going right for the Chicago Cubs. Defense, offense, pitching, everything absolutely sucks and you might as well be call this team the laughable losers. The clubhouse is reportedly split and that means Lou has already lost this team.

The 2010 season has been down right awful for the Chicago Cubs. Fans are getting upset, players are not having fun and you can bet that manger Lou Piniella is getting pretty pissed off and is about really to explode on a player or umpire if they don't pull things together down in Houston this weekend.

Dempster finally gets a win as Cubs beat the Dodgers

Ryan Dempster earned his first victory since April 23rd as the Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 and moved within four games of the Reds and Cardinals who currently lead the division. The bats weren't hot but Derrek Lee had a huge two-run homer that added insurance before Carlos Marmol shut the door in the ninth inning.

Well the Cubs are doing the same old thing, winning a few games in a row and then going on a three or four game losing streak. Right now they have won a couple games over the Rockies but have a couple of tough games against the Phillies in Philadelphia so anything could happen there.

Starlin Castro has received that call that every minor league ball player hopes for letting them know that they have been called up to the Major Leagues. The question I have to ask is this; Are the Cubs rushing Castro to the big leagues due to the slumps they have been going through? My answer is yes.

Wow, after my last blog post of the Cubs offense sucking and the bullpen not doing a good job things have turned around for the club. After coming back and taking the final three games of a four game set against the Diamondbacks, the Cubs find themselves 7-3 in their last ten to match the St. Louis Cardinals.

Astros spoil the Cubs homestand

The Cubs were four outs away from a winning home stand to start the 2010 season at Wrigley Field but the Houston Astros and Geoff Blum had other ideas. Blum singled off Cubs closer Carlos Marmol in the eighth inning and the Astros scored the game winning run in the 10th inning on a sac fly to beat the Cubs 3-2. The one run loss was the second in as many games for the Cubs and it also spoiled a marvelous outing by Ryan Dempster who pitched into the eighth inning. Will Lou get the offense going and make some changes for the upcoming road trip? When will Aramis Ramirez start swinging the bat?

Cubs unable to complete the sweep over the Brew Crew

The Cubs were hoping to sweep the Brewers on Thursday afternoon but bad pitching made sure that did not happen. Four pitchers gave up eight runs (six earned) on 14 hits. Five walks and two errors by the defense did not help out but the team be fielding the ball much better than they did. Bad pitching by Carlos Zambrano, Sean Marshall, Jeff Samardzija and John Grabrow did the team in as they allowed eight runs to score in the 8-6 loss.

Cubs beat Brewers in home opener

The Chicago Cubs kicked things off right at Wrigley Field as the beat up on the division rivals to the North on Monday afternoon. On a day where new owners met the fans as the came through the stadium, it was the big bats that that excited those fans even more. Powered by home runs off the bats of Xavier Nady, Jeff Baker and Aramis Ramirez the Cubs offense powered the team to a 9-5 victory and a huge win as the team came off a disappointing road trip to begin the season.

Chipper Jones says I don’t think so

With one swing of the bat Cubs fans went from thinking ok we might have a shot to even the series up at one game each to thinking oh crap here we go again. Chipper Jones hit a two-run home run off reliever John Grabow in the 8th inning to give the Braves a 3-2 lead and they held on to win the game by that same 3-2 score as the Cubs were unable to score in the 9th inning.

Carlos Zambrano proved once again why he should not start an opening day game for the Cubs as he got rocked for eight earned runs and the Cubs lost 16-5. Just a terrible way to start the 2010 season.
