Cubs win a wild one in 18 innings.
Wow, what a long game lol! The Cubbies and Astros battled 18 innings last night / this early morning with the Cubs coming out on top 8-6. The Cubs tied it in the 9th inning when Matt Murton took Brad Lidge deep to tie the score 6-6.
The Astros had a few chances in extra innings but were unable to push across the winning run. That allowed Aramis Ramirez to lead of the 18th inning with a double and that was followed by a Jacque Jones single. The Astros then walked Michael Barrett loading the bases for Matt Murton who once again came through with the clutch hit scoring both Ramirez and Jones.
The Cubs have homered in 10 consecutive games, their longest streak since September 2005, when they connected in 12 straight games. … Pierre extended his road hitting streak to 18 games.
