Cubs slug past the Indians

Submitted by Cliff on Tuesday, 20 June 2006 No Comment

The Chicago Cubs offense exploded tonight for 12 runs while beating the Indians 12-8 in a offensive slugfest.  There were a total of six homeruns hit in the game, three by each team.  For Chicago, Nevin (10), Blanco (3), and Jones (13) went deep.

Henry Blanco tied a career high with 4 RBI’S and Juan Pierre drove in three runs.  Blanco went 3-for-4 to raise his career average at Jacobs Field to .436 (17-for-39). He’s hitting .238 overall this season.

Starter Sean Marshall was pulled after five innings, when rain and lightning delayed the game for one hour and 13 minutes. Marshall gave up four runs and seven hits, including three homers, in those five innings. But the bullpeb was actually reliable tonight, shutting down the Tribe attack with no serious threats.
