Cubs sign Wade Miller to 1 year deal

Submitted by Cliff on Tuesday, 24 January 2006 No Comment

The Chicago Cubs have signed Wade Miller to a 1 year deal for a base price of 1 million. This will give the Cubs another arm in the rotation once Miller is able to pitchin May. He can step up into that 5th starter role and let Rusch perform out of the bullpen in my opinion. I like this signing alot, cheap 1 year deal and you can never have to many arms, especially with all the injuries the Cubs had last year.

Miller has gone 62-43 with five complete games and a 3.98 ERA during his Major League career. He has won 10 or more games on three different occasions — and has posted a .500 or better winning percentage in all but one season. In addition to Boston, he pitched for Houston from 1999-2004.

The Cubs head into Spring Training with Carlos Zambrano, Mark Prior, Greg Maddux, Glendon Rusch and Jerome Williams projected for the rotation. Wood is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, and could begin throwing off the mound when camp opens in mid-February.
