The Cubs have signed two sport start Jeff Samardzija from the University of Notre Dame to a 5 year contract.  Samardzija plans on playing baseball until August and then head back to Notre Dame for his senior year of football.  Samardzija was 8-2 with a 4.33 ERA for Notre Dame this year.  The contract is incentive lative meaning he must play and keep playing to earn his full contract money.  It is expected that Jeff will be a top round draft pick in Aprils NFL draft as well.  He plans on playing both sports professionaly.
