Cubs already in last place

Five games into the 2012 season and the Cubs are 1-4 and sitting in the cellar of the central division 3.5 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals who have gotten off to a 5-1 start even with out Albert Pujols. The team is in a rebuilding process but the way they have been losing is very frustrating for every Cubs fan. Plain and simple the bullpen STINKS.

You would think having Kerry Wood in the eighth inning and Carlos Marmol in the ninth inning they Cubs would be in good shape if they have the lead late in the game. However that has not been the case as both pitchers have sucked in the teams first five games. A blown save by both players have Cubs fans saying here we go again. Things don’t look bright out of the bullpen as all the guys are young and haven’t had much experience.

One thing I’d like to see happen is come up with a set lineup on offense. Stop plugging guys in here and there and set a damn lineup. Use your bench in the late innings with good subs (replace Soriano for defense) etc but don’t start guys once or twice a week for the hell of it. Set the line up depending on lefty/righty pitching and go with it.

We will have to see how the team responds against the Brewers today. Ryan Dempster will be getting the start and he needs to stop the bleeding and have a good outing. Your number one pitcher should be capable of that. The team could really use a win as they are heading into a tough part of the schedule and they could easily find themselves with a 2-10 record before they even know what hit them.
