Mark DeRosa flying back to Chicago for more tests

Submitted by Cliff on Monday, 25 February 2008One Comment

Cubs infielder Mark DeRosa has flown back to Chicago so they can run some more tests on his heart as he suffered an irregular heartbeat on Saturday while taking groundballs.  DeRosa says there is a possibility that he could have an out-patient surgery to take care of the problem.  He would rather do that then take medication for the problem.

We will keep you updated on the situation if we hear anything more.

Alfonso Soriano strains right quad

Submitted by Cliff on Sunday, 5 August 2007No Comment

Bad news tonight as Alfonso Soriano has hurt his right quad while attemping to run to third base tonight.  It’s uncertain how bad the injury is, but either way it is not good news.  Joe Morgan reported that the quad is a lot harder to rehab then a hamstring and it takes longer so I would expect Soriano to make a trip to the disabled list and the Cubs to call up Felix Pie or another relief pitcher.

We hope to have another update tonight once we hear how severe the injury is.  Pray Cubs fans!

Ryan Dempster to the D.L.

Ryan Dempster has been placed on the disabled list retro-active to last Saturday.  To take his place Billy Petrick has been called up from West Tennessee like we mentioned earlier today.

In another move, Wade Miller was moved to the 60-day disabled list.  I don’t know why he just doesn’t get released.  He isn’t going to do anything for the Cubs other then take up a roster spot somewhere in the minors.
