Can the Cubs young pitchers last all season?

Submitted by Cliff on Wednesday, 9 August 2006 No Comment

With the Cubs rotation completely dismantled and using all these young pitchers from Double A Tennessee I have to begin to wonder how long they can last?  Or does it really matter at this point?  Chris Marmol and Juan Mateo really shouldn’t be on the big league roster but they are forced to because of injuries.

I hope they can come together and really learn how to pitch in the big leagues these last few months of the season.  It can not only help them next year when they more then likely will be back in the minors, but when they get called up to help the big league team in the future.

Look for the Cubs to sign atleast one if not two veteran free agent pitchers during the off season to make sure something like this doesn’t have to go on next year.  Not that it hurts the players all the time, but you want to give them time to develop pitches and learn the game in the minor leagues and not rush them to the big league team.
