40-man roster in November 2005, has spent his entire four-year
minor league career in the Cubs organization ... was named the
2004 Cubs Minor League Player of the Year, Dopirak hit 39 home
runs at Lansing (A) ... graduated from Dunedin High School (FL)
in 2002.
2006 Highlights:
Dopirak's season was shortened when he broke a bone in his left
foot in the first game of the season April 6. He returned in June,
and played in 52 games for Double-A West Tenn before opting for
additional surgery. Dopirak hit one home run and had 23 RBIs.
2005 Highlights:
Brian spent the season at Daytona (A), batting .235 with 26 doubles,
16 home runs and 76 RBI in 132 games ... started the season strong,
batting .279 with 4 homers and 11 RBI in 21 games in April ...
had 31 multi-hit games ... drove in a season-high 4 runs on August
17 vs. Vero Beach, as he went 2-for-4 with a double and a home
run ... named the ninth-best prospect in the Cubs' organization
by Baseball America following the season. |
