Aramis, a 2005 National League All-Star, was acquired by the Cubs at the trading deadline in 2003 ... has surpassed the 100-RBI mark three times in the last five years (112 in 2001; 106 in 2003; 103 in 2004) ... is the third Cubs third baseman in club history to drive in 100 runs in a season (joining Ron Santo and Andy Pafko) ... signed with the Pirates as a 16-year-old non-drafted free agent in November 1994 and reached the majors in 1998 ... in addition to being an NL All-Star, career honors include: earning NL Player of the Week honors for the weeks of April 30-May 6, 2001, and July 18-July 24, 2005 ... winning the 2001 Roberto Clemente Award (as voted on by the Pittsburgh chapter of the BBWAA) ... being selected to participate in the Major League All-Star Futures Game in both 1999 and 2000 ... is a 1995 graduate of Aida Cartagena Portalatin High School in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Aramis batted .302 with 30 doubles, 31 homers and 92 RBI despite missing the final month of the season with a strained left quadriceps ... was selected to his first National League All-Star team, replacing an injured Scott Rolen ... went 1-for-2 and drew a walk in the contest ... was the first Cubs third baseman to make the All-Star team since Vance Law (1988) and the first to play third base since Bill Madlock (1975) ... teamed up with Derrek Lee to become the second pair of Cub teammates in franchise history to have back-to-back 30 homer seasons ...
