The Chicago Cubs demolished the Washington Nationals 11-3 on Sunday afternoon as they finished up a four game sweep in D.C. Alfonso Soriano heated up over the weekend with a couple of home runs. The Chicago Cubs Blog is now available on Twitter at @chicagocubsblog

Cubs effective enough to beat Nats 3-1

It wasn’t that pretty for the Cubs offense last night but Carlos Zambrano came through with a two run double in the top of the second inning and he pitched well enough to get the victory as the Cubs beat the Nationals 3-1. The Cubs bullpen was great as four pitchers combined to throw four innings and limit the Nats to just two hits down the stretch.

Harden strong as Cubs start second half with a win

The Cubs started off the second half of the season with a 6-2 victory over the terrible Washington Nationals. Rich Harden threw six strong innings and struck out seven. For the offense, Derrek Lee was a triple short of the cycle and Ryan Theriot drove in two runs. Great way to start the second half!

Cubs and Cardinals split four game series

The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals split a four game series over the weekend and the Cubs remain 3.5 games behind the Cardinals in the Central Division. Heading into the second half, the Cubs are going to need to get healthy, stay healthy and hit the ball better if they want to see post season action.
