Cubs sweep Padres away

Ryan Dempster threw seven innings and the bottom of the order produced nine runs as the Cubs beat the Padres 11-3 and swept their first three game series of the 2009 season. Bobby Scales was the games MVP as he had two doubles and four rbi. Geovany Soto, Reed Johnson, and Ryan Dempster all had two rbi each as well.

Cubs beat Padres in rain shortened game

Ted Lilly pitched into the seventh inning and the Cubs beat the Padres 6-2 in a rain shortened game. Alfonso Soriano, Ryan Theriot and Geovany Soto provided the runs for the Cubs. Soriano and Theriot led off the game with back to back jacks and Soto would hit his first of the year later in the game. Theriot also added another solo shot as well.

Harden and the Cubs beat Peavy 6-2

Rich Harden beat Jake Peavy and the San Diego Padres 6-2 on Tuesday night. Milton Bradley provided a moonshot two run homer off Peavy and the Cubs added three runs off the Padres bullpen as they took the first game in a three game series in Chicago. Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome both had three hits as well.

Cubs lose Ramirez and the game

Aaron Heilman gave up a two run home run to Ryan Braun in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Cubs lost to the beer drinkers to the North 3-2 on Friday night. However, that wasn’t the big blow to the team as Aramis Ramirez will be out for a while with a dislocated shoulder.
