Soriano goes deep in the 8th as Cubs beat Cards 8-7

Alfonso Soriano came up big on Friday afternoon as he hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Cubs a 8-7 lead and than Carlos Marmol made the one run lead hold up as the Cubs beat the Cardinals to even up the four game series!

Cubs drop game one against the Cardinals 7-4

It was a rough day at Wrigley Field for the Chicago Cubs on Thursday as they dropped the first game of a four game set to the rivals from the South. St. Louis beat the Cubs 7-4 behind three rbi and one home run from Chris Duncan. The three run loss is the second loss in a row for the Cubs.

Jason Marquis shows the Cubs what they traded away

Jason Marquis showed the Chicago Cubs what they traded away in the offseason as he came back to Chicago and beat the Cubs 5-2. Marquis pitched seven strong innings and even had two rbi in the game. Rich Harden lasted just three innings despite striking out eight batters.

It was a cold and rainy day at Wrigley Field on Monday afternoon but that did not stop the fans from showing up to kick off the 2009 season at Wrigley. Ted Lilly and three relievers combined on a one hitter while Derrek Lee led the offense with two rbi’s.
