I haven’t been around this weekend to watch or write about the Cubs/White Sox games so I don’t have much for this article.

It sure is nice to see the Cubs take the first two games of the series though.  Carlos Zambrano through a great game on Friday, and then Rich Hill pitched a good game today and the Cubs were able to come up with a big run in the 9th inning on a squeeze.

I hope to watch tomorrows game but unsure if I will be able to as we are starting to put up a fence.  Hopefully I’ll get to catch most of it though.  GO CUBS!

Aramis Ramirez has been activated off the disabled list today and to make room for him on the roster the Cubs sent pitcher Sean Gallagher down to Triple A Iowa.

It will be nice to see Aramis back in the lineup.  Hopefully he can give the offense a spark and we can sweet the White Sox away this weekend!

The Cubs lost another 1 run ballgame today as they fell 6-5 to the Texas Rangers as the Rangers took the Interleague Series against the Cubs.

Ted Lilly and the Cubs got behind by five runs early in the ball game and the battled back with a huge 5th inning that seen the Cubs score 4 runs.  Mike Fontenot, Derrek Lee, Mark DeRosa, Rob Bowen, and Angel Pagan all had key hits in the inning.  In the 6th inning, Derrek Lee had another hit that plated Alfonso Soriano to tie the game for the Cubs.

It wasn’t meant to be as the Rangers were able to push across a run in the bottom of the ninth after Kenny Lofton started off the inning with a single to left field that just came out of Soriano’s glove as he made a diving attempt to catch the ball.  The Rangers then bunted Lofton over to second and in scoring position.  Bob Howry then got the ball on a groundball back to the pitchers mound and caught Lofton off the base and attempted to run him back to the bag and get him out in a rundown, but that didn’t work out at all as Lofton was able to make it back to the bag before Cesar Izturis was able to put down the tag.  You can tell then the Cubs were going to lose this ballgame. They always make some stupid mistake that costs them the ballgame and today it happened again…  The next batter, Frank Catalanotto then singled to deep left field that scored Lofton and gave the Rangers the win.

What a dissapointing series with the Rangers.  The Cubs could have swept this team if they would have just had a few clutch hits and not made stupid mistakes in the field.  Now they travel to the Southside to start a series with the hated White Sox tomorrow.  Huge series with the Brewers on fire, the Cubs have got to keep this thing around 5 games atleats at the all-star break.

It was not a good night for Jason Marquis and the Chicago Cubs.  Marquis got hit hard, and had four walks, four earned runs, and two homeruns allowed all in a short five innings.  I’m pretty sure every batter he walked ended up coming around and scoring a run for the Rangers. Can’t win ballgames when you get behind so early…

Alfonso Soriano went 3-4 at the plate including his 12th homerun of the season.  Koyie Hill hit is first major league homerun that was a two run shot in the seventh inning.  It was not enough though as the Rangers offense was on fire last night.  Well I shouldn’t give them that much credit as the Cubs played terrible defense as well.

I would like to say congrats to Sammy Sosa who hit homerun #600 last night off Jason Marquis.  Steriods, corked bats, or not, I still like Sammy and hopefully he gets traded to a contender for a playoff run.

There is a lot of baseball to be played this season.  Do you have all the tickets that you want for games? If not check out StubHub who we have partnered with to bring you great tickets and great prices!  It’s where real fans buy and sell tickets!

In a suprising move this morning, Michael Barrett + some cash has been traded to the San Diego Padres for Padres reserve catcher Rob Bowen and lower Single-A outfielder Kyler Burke to the Cubs.

I would have thought the Cubs and Hendry could have got a little bit better for Barrett.  I know they have been chasing Linebrink for quite a while, suprised they couldn’t do some sort of deal for him.  I heard rumors if the Cubs would have included Eric Patterson, then Linebrink would be on his way to Chicago.  I don’t know how to true those rumors are though.

What do you all think? Lets hear your opinions!

The Cubs got a big win lastnight down in Arlington, Texas as they beat the Rangers 5-4.  What was so great about the win was seeing the bullpen throw five strong innings and not allow one hit!  Carlos Marmol pitched three great innings, Bob Howry threw the eigth inning, and closer Ryan Dempster finished up the ballgame in the ninth picking up his 16th save on the season.

There were plenty of Cubs fans down at the game as alot of them went to also see former Cubs Sammy Sosa try to his homerun #600.  It wasn’t meant to happen last night as Sosa struckout three times.

Leading the Cubs at the plate was Felix Pie with a triple and two RBI, and Derrek Lee who went 2-5 and had the game winning RBI in the sixth inning.

Both teams will play again tonight as Jason Marquis will face off against Kameron Loe.  Gametime is set for 7:35 central time.

Major League Baseball has suspended Derrek Lee and Chris Young five games each for their altercation from the game last Saturday.

Young threw a ball towards Lee’s head and they exchanged some words as Lee was walking towards first base.  Lee then threw a punch toward Young, and Young retaliated with a punch of his own.  Neither player hit the other and then both benches emptied.

Lee says that he will appeal the suspension, so we might see it get dropped to four games but we won’t know for a while. Expect him in the lineup tomorrow night when the Cubs face the Texas Rangers down in Arlington.

Cubs Hitting coach Gerald Perry was also suspended three games for his actions during the bench clearing.

With the suspension of Derrek Lee looming, and Daryle Ward ready to come back, the Cubs have optioned Clay Rapada back to Triple A Iowa, and called up Ward.

Ward will place first place with Mark DeRosa as Lee sits out his suspension.  Looks like we might hear something today and we can expect it to be around 5-7 games he will have to sit out.  We could have used him bigtime in these next two series as the Cubs can have an extra hitter as the DH will come into place…

Some early Cubs Rumors going around in New York City today as the NYPOST is reporting that the Yankees are trying to find a player that could possibly play firstbase for them.  They mention the Cubs Mark DeRosa and the Giants Rich Aurilia as possible “Utility” players that could hold down first base for the Yankees.

What do you all think? Do you think Hendry would be a listener to the Yankees?  I don’t think we can trade DeRosa at this point.  I like that he can play all over the field and with injuries it is good to have a player like that.

The Padres played Homerun Derby today against Rich Hill and then Cubs as they won the weekend series with a 11-3 victory today.

Len and Bob both think that Rich Hill was tipping his pitches and the Padres picked up on them pretty quick.  Hill got rocked in his last outing in San Diego as well and they did the same today in Chicago.  Mike Cameron two more home runs off Rich Hill as well which made it 4 homeruns in his last four at  bats against Hill.  Hill will need to go and watch some tape to see what is going and and make some changes before his next starts.

Sean Gallager wasn’t much better as he only lasted 2 innings giving up one homerun, four earned runs, three walks, and three strikeouts.

The Cubs will now start up a road trip heading to Texas and back to Chicago to take on the White Sox at “The Cell”  Big stretch of games coming up for the Cubs on the road.  Lets hope we can go 4-2 atleast in these games.
