What in the hell is the team thinking that it would be better for closer Ryan Dempster to be in the starting rotation?  How in the hell is he going to go 6-7 innings if he can’t even last one inning without giving up a few runs?

MLB.Com is reporting that the Cubs and manager Lou Piniella have given it the thought.  All I have to wonder is why in the hell would you do that?  It sure seems like a stupid move to me.  Starting pitching is not the problem with the pitching staff.  If Dempster can’t close out ballgames then he doesn’t belong on he roster.  He is nine out of ten in save chances, that is pretty good.  No need to move him into the rotation to take the #5 spot.

Angel Guzman has been moved to the bullpen because of cramps and that is what started this idea with Lou.  All I have to say is, “Lou, get your head out of your butt and figure out who to put in the bullpen that can get some outs!”

All it took was a bad inning by Carlos Zambrano and Neil Cotts in the seventh inning where the White Sox scored seven runs and won the game.  Zambrano was charged with seven runs, and Cotts just plain sucked as hey threw fastballs right down the middle as he let three runs score in the seventh inning.

The Cubbies tried to stage a comeback as they scored four runs in the eigth inning, but they were not able to get the sweep from the White Sox.  Aramis Ramirez stayed hot as he had a two-run homer in the eigth.  It will be good to get Derrek Lee back in the lineup and let Soriano bat second.  Adding some more pop to the offense is always good.

The Cubs also had their first ejected player of the year as Cliff Floyd was ejected in the ninth inning after being called out on a check swing.  All he was asking the umpire was to ask for some help and he actually wasn’t thrown out until he got back to the dugout which was weird.  We all thought it would Lou that would be the first, but he has held his emotions under control so far.

Any time we can take two out of three games in a series you have to be happy.  The Cubs will try to get back on track Tuesday night in San Diego as they take on the Padres at 9:05 central time.

It was another great ballgame between the Cubs and White Sox today at Wrigley Field.  I didn’t have a chance to watch the game on tv as I was traveling, but had a chance to listen to Ron and Pat on XM Radio and loved it!  I haven’t been able to listen to them in a long time and I really enjoyed it!  Since I wasn’t able to watch the game, I won’t have a complete write up for the game but click here for MLB.Com recap.

The Cubbies will be going for the sweep tomorrow with Carlos Zambrano taking the mound.  Lets go Big Z, sweeo them White Sox back to the south side!

Take that Ozzie!  LOL, sorry I just had to say that as most of us Cubs fans can’t stand that crybaby Ozzie Guillen!  Wonder if poor Ozzie regrets what he had to say on the radio this morning after A.J. commented about not being in the starting lineup!

Clutch hitting, a good starting pitching performance, and a great job by closer Ryan Dempster today.  That is how you win a ballgame guys!  Take advantage of the other teams mistakes and make them pay for those mistakes!

Ted Lilly threw seven strong innings today and that really helped out the ballclub.  Lilly allowed six hits, three runs, two walks, and six strikeouts.  Even though he allowed those six hits, the White Sox weren’t able to do very much damage with the hits which is the important thing.

The bullpen… Well what a great job Bob Howry and Dempster did today!  Dempster looked like a different man out there today.  After a great eigth inning by Howry where he recorded two strikeouts, Dempster had a 1-2-3 inning to close out the game!  That a boy!

On the offensive side of the ball, the Cubs were led by centerfielder Angel Pagan who finished 3-5 with and two RBI’s.  His run on the Toby Hall passed ball in the eigth inning was the game winning run and it really shows you what speed can do!

Michael Barrett had the only homerun for the Cubs as he tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning.  It was his only hit of the ballgame but it but the Cubbies on the board.

Raise that White Flag Cubs fans and lets celebrate tonight!  Go get em tomorrow and lets make this two in a row over the White Sox!!!

Mike Fontenot’s time in Chicago sure didn’t last long.  The Cubs sent him down to Triple A to make room for Carlos Marmol.  You can tell that the Cubs need more help in the bullpen, and as we blogged yesterday, I figured that move would be made soon.  I didn’t think it would be this soon but hey whatever works!

Damnit, how many time is this bullpen going to cost the Cubs a ballgame?  It happened once again today as Ryan Dempster was charged with 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Well we can say Scott Eyre did give up the last two hits of the game lol, but the runs were still charged to Dempster.

If not for the blowup in the bullpen, Angel Guzman would have picked up his first major league win but it just wasn’t meant to be I suppse.

So no what happens with the bullpen?  I can expect a move to be maded in soon.  You can’t keep sending the same players out there and seeing the same result, and that is a blown save, and another lose for the Cubs.

Atleast the Cubs offense hit the ball around today, Aramis Ramirez and Angel Pagan both had homeruns.  But of course it wasn’t enough because the damn bullpen sucks so bad right now…

I don’t know what else to say, I’m pretty pissed off after watching the game today.  We could have went 2-2 against the Mets and I would have been happy with that.  Now we have a big series with the White Sox which doesn’t look good right now.

After waiting out a long rain delay, the Cubs got crushed by the New York Mets last night 8-1.  The Cubbies could only muster 2 hits against the Mets.  I think the Cubs still thought the rain delay was going on lol!

I won’t get into specifics about last nights game since the game today is about ready to start in an hour or so.  Basically Rich Hill had another bad start making it two in a row, and the Cubs had no offense.  End Result = CUBS LOST BAD

Wow what an offensive showing by the Cubbies tonight as they crushed the New York Mets 10-1!  Aramis Ramirez led the way with a grandslam in the sixth inning that pretty much put the game out of reach because Carlos Zambrano was pitching his best game of the year.

Zambrano there eight strong innings finishing with six hits allowed, one run, three walks, and three strikeouts.  He started off great unlike his previous outings where he got rocked in the first inning and the Cubs fell behind early.  Lets all hope that this is just a start for Zambrano getting hot and the Cubs getting on a long winning streak!

Besides Ramirez and his big grandslam, Cliff Floyd had a great return to Shea Stadium as he collected three hits and one RBI.  Daryle Ward, who was filling in for Derrek Lee who is out with neck spasms, hit a two-run double in the first. Michael Barrett doubled twice and drove in two runs.

The Chicaog Cubs lost another 1 run ballgame as they lost to the New York Mets 5-4 tonight.  The Cubs got out to a quick 4-0 lead, but Jason Marquis and the bullepen could not hold on for the win.

Alfonso Soriano started out hitting third in the batting order for the first time of the season and doubled in his first at bat in the first inning.  Aramis Ramirez then hit him home with a single that Carlos Beltran came up short on.

In the second inning, Marquis hit in Mark DeRosa and Angel Pagan with a single to center.  Shortly after that, Cesar Izturis hit a double to rightfield that scored Marquis.  That was all the scoring that the Cubs go however.

The Mets started their comeback in the fourth inning when David Wright his a two-run homer to rightfield.  In the sixth inning, Paul LoDuca doubled and scored Carlos Delgado.  Damien Easly then scored Wright with a sac fly to center where it didn’t look like Pagan aligned himself up to try to throw Wright out at home.

With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth, Michael Wuertz walked Carlos Delgado with the basesloaded that scored Jose Reyes.  It was not good when Reyes reached first with a single to center in the inning.  He then stole second even though the Cubs called for a pitchout, Blanco’s throw was no where close to the bag to get Reyes.  He got to third base by another walk by Wuertz.

So it is another one run loss by the Cubbies tonight.  It seems the Cubs just can’t get the breaks, the bullpen can’t hold a lead, and the team just can’t win a ballgame right now.  Wow we sure say that a lot as Cubs fans…
