Wow, I just have to laugh as write this little post about Kerry Wood already being hurt!  Wood feel out of his hottub at his house and landed on his chest and now has some bruised ribs.  He will be out for 5-6 days they say.

Or wait….

This is the Cubs we are talking about.  Instead of bruised ribs, he probably has a bleeding kidney or broken ribs that they aren’t telling us about and that Wood will be back next year.  Lol sorry, just a little bit of humor for today.

You will soon be seeing Under Armour ads on the two outfield doors along the ivy at Wrigley Field.  I don’t like this one bit but I understand why the team is doing it.  The Cubs have said it will help bring in advertising dollars without changing the field too much and still keeping Wrigley Field as one of the greatest stadiums.

Under Armour will also have rights to the sign behind home plate so we will always get to see their damn logo!

Here is a image from the Cubs on how the advertising will look.

In a move that Jim Hendry says will help out both teams, the Cubs traded away pitcher Jae Kuk Ryu today for a couple of minor league prospects.

The Cubs acquired outfielder Andrew Lopez and right-handed pitcher Gregory Reinhard for Ryu, 23, who was 0-1 with an 8.40 ERA in 10 games with the big-league team, including one start last season. At Triple-A Iowa, Ryu was 8-8 with a 3.23 ERA in 24 games.

Looks to me like it is pretty much a deal to get rid Ryu off the 40-man roster to make room for Jeff Jeff Samardzija.

Carlos Zambrano is serious that he wants a “Barry Zito Like” contract and he wants it done before the regular season starts.  Big Z says, “I must go” if there is no deal in place.

Zambrano and the Cubs are still talking about his salary for the 2007 season, but he will be with the Cubs for this season for sure.  But you have got to think with all the money that Hendry spent in the off-season, what is another 18 million per season? :)

If you are Jim, you give Zambrano whatever he is asking and lock him up for good.  Don’t let this play out, and don’t lose your star pitcher like the Cubs did when they lost Greg Maddux to the Atlanta Braves.

Internet customers that use computer-based scripting language will have all potential orders cancelled.

• There will be a limit of six tickets per game.

• At the Wrigley Field Box Office, you will be limited to ordering a maximum of 42 tickets.

• Internet and phone customers will be limited to one game per order of up to six tickets. Internet and phone customers will be limited to a maximum of 42 tickets for the weekend. All customers who order over this limit will have all potential orders cancelled.

MLB.Com has released its Cubs Spring Training Guide. It is well worth taking a look at it.  This will be the 29th straight year that the Cubs have played spring training in Mesa, Arizona.  They have a wonderful park HoHoKam Park, and if you haven’t been there, please get there and watch a game!  You owe yourself and your family a nice vacation :)

When do the Cubs arrive at camp?

Cubs pitchers and catchers report to Fitch Park in Mesa on Feb. 14, but they will not begin workouts until the next day. Position players will report on Feb. 10, and the first full-squad workout will be on Feb. 20. The team will train at Fitch Park before moving down the road to HoHoKam Park shortly before the Cactus League games begin.

When do games start?

The Cubs will open Cactus League play at HoHoKam Park on March 1 against visiting San Francisco. Highlights on the schedule include a visit from the White Sox on March 4 and a visit to Tucson to take on the South Siders March 16.

The Cubs will wrap up their spring schedule with two games against the Mariners in Las Vegas on March 30 and 31.
