Wow, is terrible to watch this team play?  I can hardly sit through a 9 inning game these days the way the team plays.  They are downright terrible.  From baserunning, stupid errors, and not being patient at the plate it is driving me nuts!  I hope Hendry goes out and gets some good on base percentage guys during the offseason.  Someone that can draw some walks and get on base for Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee

One key guy I want Hendry to bring back is Juan Pierre unless he can sign a Carlos Lee or Alfonso Soriano in the off season.  I like Pierre who is 4th in the league with hits and is starting to get on base more.  The one downside with Pierre is his arm, which is not very strong at all.  Pie is not ready for center field yet, so if you don’t resign Pierre you better get Lee or Soriano to play a corner infield and move another player to center.

Oh and please Ryan Dempster, jack up your jock strap a littler tighter and lets actually get a save man!

Who? What? Where? Lol who in the world is Les Walrond?  That is what Cubs fans are probably thinking when they noticed he is scheduled to start tonight.  It will be his major league debut.

Walrond, 10-5 with a 3.98 ERA at Iowa, will be the Cubs’ eighth rookie starter this season. The Cubs chose him instead of Sean Marshall, who threw six shutout innings in his last rehab start.

I would have preferred seeing Sean Marshall come back up and make the start but what do I know?  Might as well call up the entire Triple A team before the seasons over.

Another Cub has been added to the disabled list, this time it is Cesar Izturis.  Izturis has been bothered with a sore hamstring all season long and is now going to make a trip to the DL to rest the hammy.

In Izturis’s spot, the Cubs have called up Triple A outfielder Buck Coats.  Coats is hitting .277 (119-for-429) with 20 doubles, six home runs and 49 RBI in 118 games for Iowa this season, including a .289 mark (91-for-315) against right-handed pitchers. The Cubs’ 18th round selection in the 2000 First-Year Player Draft, Coats has seen action at all three outfield positions, as well as at second base, third base and shortstop this season.

The Cubs placed rookie right-hander Carlos Marmol on the disabled list and activated left-hander Glendon Rusch and utility player Freddie Bynum. Bynum takes Neifi Perez’s spot on the roster after Perez was dealt to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday for a Minor League catcher.

Rusch had been sidelined with soreness in his left elbow and was expected to be activated on Tuesday, but the Cubs bullpen is thin and the left-hander was needed now.

Bynum had been rehabbing from a blood clot in his right shoulder, and batted .227 (5-for-22) in six games in a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa. He was hitting .260 in 41 games for the Cubs before he was hurt.

Len and Bob just reported that Neifi Perez has been traded to the Detroit Tigers for C Chris Robinson a 2005 3rd round pick a Florida State League all star this season.  Finally Dusty can’t plug Neifi into a position just to get him playing time.

Hendry was able to get a decent looking catching prospect and get rid of Neifi so I’m happy with this trade.  The Cubs need a nice catcher in the minor leagues that can come up in a few years if Barrett chooses to leave once he is a free agent.

Wow, what a long game lol!  The Cubbies and Astros battled 18 innings last night / this early morning with the Cubs coming out on top 8-6.  The Cubs tied it in the 9th inning when Matt Murton took Brad Lidge deep to tie the score 6-6.

The Astros had a few chances in extra innings but were unable to push across the winning run.  That allowed Aramis Ramirez to lead of the 18th inning with a double and that was followed by a Jacque Jones single.  The Astros then walked Michael Barrett loading the bases for Matt Murton who once again came through with the clutch hit scoring both Ramirez and Jones.

The Cubs have homered in 10 consecutive games, their longest streak since September 2005, when they connected in 12 straight games. … Pierre extended his road hitting streak to 18 games.

I was able to attend the first two games of the Cubs / Rockies series in Denver over the weekend.  The team played like crap the first two games, getting down early in both games but I suppose you have to expect that with young pitchers a lot of times.

My family and I stayed that Westin where the Cubs were staying and the players looked down and like they just wanted the season to be over with already.  Going to be a long 6-7 weeks with that kind of attitude.  Baker did seem upbeat when talking with fans as he usually is.  Ron Santo is great with fans as always, you can sit down with him before the bus comes and pretty much talk about anything.  Santo is class act, too bad the current generation of players aren’t the same.

I’ll probably be heading back next year just because the Cubs suck me in like that, I shouldn’t put more money into this team the way they are playing but what can I say, I’m a Cubs Fan!

With the Cubs rotation completely dismantled and using all these young pitchers from Double A Tennessee I have to begin to wonder how long they can last?  Or does it really matter at this point?  Chris Marmol and Juan Mateo really shouldn’t be on the big league roster but they are forced to because of injuries.

I hope they can come together and really learn how to pitch in the big leagues these last few months of the season.  It can not only help them next year when they more then likely will be back in the minors, but when they get called up to help the big league team in the future.

Look for the Cubs to sign atleast one if not two veteran free agent pitchers during the off season to make sure something like this doesn’t have to go on next year.  Not that it hurts the players all the time, but you want to give them time to develop pitches and learn the game in the minor leagues and not rush them to the big league team.

Greg MadduxOnce again Greg Maddux is no longer a CubGreg Maddux has agreed on being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Cesar Izturis.  The Cubs will also pick up some of the $3 million-plus owed to Maddux to complete the deal.

Another sad day as a Cubs fan, I was hoping to get to watch Maddux pitch in Denver in a few weeks when I go to the games.  Hope Maddux finishes out his career with another playoff team and then comes back to the Cubs as a pitching coach :)  Hey, we can all dream right.

This was the second trade of the day the Cubs made, they traded Todd Walker to the Padres earlier this afternoon.

Well the outspoken Todd Walker has been traded to the San Diego Padres who are saying they want him to play 3rd base for them during their playoff run.  Suprised to see the Padres want Todd to play 3rd since he hasn’t played the position on a regular basis since 1998 with the Twins.

Good luck Todd, wish you well in San Deigo.  Lets hope that Todd speaks his mind about the Cubs and the ownership.  We would all love to see that!

In return the cubs are getting pitching prospect Jose Ceda who is only 19 years old.
