Cubs Sweep The CardinalsWell Well Well, where has this Cubs team been the first half of the season lol?  This is the Cubs team that everyone thought would be playing the entire year, or should I say they way they are playing.  They are playing more relaxed and look like they are having a lot more fun.  I guess winning does that :)

Chicago’s first four-game sweep of the Cardinals at Wrigley Field since 1972 left the Cardinals 0-7 this season at the Cubs’ home park. The Cubs also swept a three-game home series from the Cards in early April.

Zambrano finished 6-0 in July and became the first Cubs pitcher to win six games in a month since Rick Reuschel won seven in August of 1979. The Cubs’ four-game winning streak is their longest this season.  It was Carpenter’s first loss in seven career starts at Wrigley Field. He had been 4-0 at the Cubs’ home park and 6-1 overall against them.  The series attendance was 162,101, a four-game series record at Wrigley Field.

The way the Cubs are playing, you better get your tickets now! Get lower level, bleacher seats, and don’t forget about the road games also, Cubs fans travel best so keep up the tradition!

Chicagosports is reporting this morning that Greg Maddux’s old teammate with the Braves Tom Glavine is really trying to convince the Mets owners to trade for Greg Maddux.  Glavine really thinks that Maddog still has what it takes and can help the Mets continue on with their playoff push.  It could be one last hoo-ra for Maddux if he does decide to goto the Mets in a trade.

It is also reported that the Padres and Dodgers have looked into Maddux.

Chicago CubsDonald Trump was on 670 “The Score” this morning talking with “Mike North Morning Show” and was asked if he would be intersted in buying the Chicago Cubs since the Tribune company might possibly be looking at selling the team.

Trumps response was “I would be interested yeah. I think the Cubs are a great franchise, a storied franchise, an amazing franchise.”  “It’s sad to see what’s happened to the Cubs, but management hasn’t really done a good job over the years.”  “I would certainly be interested in the Cubs,” Trump said. The Tribune Company is reportedly considering selling the struggling team.

I doubt this would actually happen, Trump is just sticking his nose into it like everything else.  I would rather have Mark Cuban buy the Cubs then Donald Trump.  Cuban atleast has a background with a sports franchise.

Sean Marshall was placed on the disabled list yesterday due to the strained left oblique injury.  The Cubs called up Michael Wuertz and David Aardsma to help out in the bullpen as the Cubs are very shorthanded right now.

Rich Hill will also be called up to pitch during Thursday’s game.  It will be the third time that Hill has been called up to the big league team this year.

Wow, can any Cubs pitcher stay healthy this year?  Sean Marshall is likely headed to the disabled list after straining is left oblique in Saturday’s game against the Nationals.

Among the Triple-A Iowa candidates the Cubs could call up are left-hander Rich Hill, who is 6-1 with a 1.94 ERA, or right-hander Angel Guzman, who is 3-4 with a 4.01 ERA

After last nights game, Scott Williamson was traded to the San Diego Padres who are in contention in the West division.  Williamson really hasn’t done much for the Cubs this year and has spent time on the disabled list with almost every other Cubs pitcher.

In return the Cubs are getting Minor League pitchers Fabian Jimenez Angulo, 19, and Joel Santo, 22. Both were pitching at Class A Fort Wayne.  Jim Hendry likes them but who knows what that means lol.

Good luck in San Diego Scott.  Hope you make a nice playoff run.

We have said it once, and I’m sure this isn’t the last time but Mark Prior is off the disabled list again!  He will be added to the roster before tonights game and he gets the nod opening the series with the Washington Nationals.  This will be Prior’s first start since July 4th.  He was scratched from his start on July 9th with a strained oblique that he suffered in batting practice.

News out of Chicago is saying that Cubs third base coach Chris Speier was arrested on DUI charges this early morning.  Speier is to have ran a stop sign on his motorcycle before being pulled over.  News reports are saying Speier spent the night in the ” Drunk Tank ”

Maybe he was just out drinking away the Cubs seasons like most Cubs fans have to do when watching the games.  You know you can only take so much lol.

Seriously Phil, as I read your article on ChicagoSports.Com this morning I really couldn’t believe what I was reading.  Just a few weeks ago you were calling for Dusty Baker to be fired, and now out of no where you are saying lets sign him for two more years? You are one crazy mofo Phil!

Some other things in the article that were pretty messed up was Phil recommending trading Michael Barrett and letting Old Henry Blanco do the everday catching.  Where did you get this idea lol? Have you not see how bad the Cubs offense is?  Barrett is one of the bright spots for the offense and now you want to trade for that old Blanco and his little bit bitter defense?

If you watched last nights game on national television you seen the Cubs up and down team play.  They came out of the gates swinging good and throwing strikes, but once that 6th inning hit, all hell broke lose.

The Mets pushed across 11 runs in the 6th inning on the help of two errors by second basemen Todd WalkerWalker is a gamer, and totally took all the blame himself.  It’s too bad Dusty can’t do that once in a while…  What in the hell was Dusty doing leaving Novoa out there that long to serve up Beltrans grand slam?  I know Novoa is one of “Dusty’s Guys” as you can tell he plays almost every game no matter the situation, but come on and play the game a little smarter.

It’s too bad that Todd will more then likely get traded in the next two weeks before the July 31st deadline. Tood is a gamer, and Cubs Fans enjoy watching him play the game the way he does.  He is also a great guy to talk too off the field and you can tell how bad he just wants to win for the Cubs.
